St. Mary - St. Joseph School is a bi-parochial Catholic school for children in grades Pre-K through 8. Our school is fully accredited and approved by New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the State of Connecticut. We are sponsored by two parishes, St. Mary's Church located at 46 Valley Street, Willimantic and St. Joseph's Church located at 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic. We are also a part of the Diocese of Norwich. Our school prides itself on providing faith-based education in a small class atmosphere. We are committed to instilling Catholic values whilst providing a challenging and rewarding educational environment. We encourage donations of talent, time and treasure to community service projects. Coupled with the religion and faith formation curriculum, the academic curriculum provides students with the tools they need to be successful, Christ-like citizens in the technological world in which they live, developing skills to think and act critically, creatively, and responsibly. Mission
St. Mary - St Joseph School educates in an atmosphere of love and respect for “J.O.Y.” (Jesus, others, yourself). As a bi-parochial Catholic school, we challenge our students to develop their God-given talents and intellect. Through His Word and by our daily example, we nourish their spiritual growth. We are committed to providing students in grades pre-K through eight from Windham and the surrounding towns with a challenging academic program emphasizing Gospel values. We teach so that students will meet the future with a firm foundation of knowledge, skills and faith.
Philosophy
We believe that St. Mary - St. Joseph School is a community of J.O.Y., respecting “Jesus, others and yourself.” As educators of the Catholic faith we strive to teach Gospel values, pray with the students, and serve as models of responsible caring adults of faith. Understanding that education is a life-long process, we strive to instill in students the specific skills and self-discipline necessary to achieve academic success now and in the future. Realizing that our students are the leaders of tomorrow, we celebrate the uniqueness of each child, and we hold as our sacred mission to help each child develop his or her own God-given talents and gifts. The teachings of the Catholic Church shall be the foundation of St. Mary - St. Joseph School. Understanding our responsibilities as members of God’s kingdom, we, the members of the school community, will set goals and make decisions reflective of this awareness.
